Strong businesses are driven by strong financial goals. If you’re here reading this, you’re likely at a place where you want to turn your blog into a business or already have. You can soft sell on your blog and use this as one of the methods for making money as a blogger.
The foundation of the soft sell strategy is to offer support that convinces buyers of the value of your product while building trust in your brand.
What the Perfect Soft Sell Looks Like
Recently I had the opportunity to sit in on Kim Sorgious speaking at the Focused Blogging Conference. She is making a full-time income (and beyond) as a single mom (who also homeschools) to four children. She has her processes down like a well-oiled machine.
She creates printables over on her Christian blog that helps moms build victorious families with practical resources for homeschooling, daily life, and faith. She has a very specific method she follows when she creates a product and soft sells it to her readers.
Every product:
- has a clear agenda first to help and support the customer for free
- offers a genuine solution to the customer’s problem or struggle (her products focus on solving a problem)
- builds an authentic relationship of trust (soft sell means through a relationship of trust)
5 Ways to Soft Sell
Kim relies on five main ways to soft sell to her communities:
- Blog posts
- Video series
- Webinars
- Sales funnel or email series
- Challenges (Here is an excellent podcast Kim suggested we listen to about how to use reader challenges to grow our businesses. Bookmark this to listen to later.)
In her talk, Kim broke down each product on her site and showed us the exact series she created that leads her readers to the product by way of solving their problem.
Every email that she sends sells a product by way of the trust she has built with them over the years.
So, she creates the product and then creates a series of blog posts that helps the reader on the surface level with their problem or gets thing thinking deeper about their need for a solution to their problem.
Kim never uses dishonesty, partial truths, bait and switch or SPAM as a way to sell to her readers.
These blog posts are sent out over the course of a specific time span. She uses her email delivery list service to deliver this drip of emails. Each email tells a story and then links to the blog posts on her site that talks more about the pain point she is addressing. The blog post sells the product and leads them to where they can purchase the product. It’s brilliant and works so well!
Kim goes into great detail for each product and the series she uses to sell each product in her talk which you can get the recording for by being a member of Focused Elite. She shares great insight and is a real leader in using soft selling to run her six figure plus online business.

I learned these tips while in attendance at the 3rd annual Focused Blog Conference and can’t wait to continue to immerse myself in even more! Focused Elite is a subscription membership program that offers constant learning, accountability, and more. My favorite part is that I can get access to all of the previous conference’s audios!
I hope to see you there! Oh, did I mention it is all online?
